Actor Shreyas Talpade Hospitalized After Heart Attack Scare On Set

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade, 47, was rushed to the hospital on Thursday evening after suffering a heart attack while filming his latest movie “Welcome To The Jungle.”

Emergency Response Saves Talpade

According to sources close to the production, Talpade had just wrapped up shooting for the day when he suddenly complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. Crew members quickly called an ambulance and the actor was transported to Belle Vue Hospital in Andheri West, Mumbai. Doctors later confirmed he had suffered a mild heart attack.

Talpade Undergoes Emergency Surgery

“It was a scary moment for everyone on set,” said an assistant director who asked not to be named. “Shreyas had been perfectly fine all day. He has no prior history of heart disease. But after the scene ended he started sweating bullets and clenching his chest. Medical staff gave him an EKG which showed he was having a heart attack. Thankfully the hospital was nearby so he received treatment quickly.”

Upon arrival, doctors performed an emergency angioplasty surgery to open up a blocked artery around Talpade’s heart. The minimally invasive procedure was successful in restoring normal blood blow. Talpade was moved to the cardiac ICU where he remains in stable condition. His wife Deepti later released a statement thanking fans and media for the outpouring of support her family has received. She confirmed her husband is recovering well and is expected to be discharged within a few days.

Film Production On Hold

The health scare has temporarily halted production on “Welcome To The Jungle,” the third installment in the popular comedy franchise. Director Ahmed Khan says filming will resume as soon as Talpade has fully regained his strength.

“We are giving Shreyas all the time he needs to recuperate even if it delays the shooting schedule. His health comes first,” Khan stated. The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal and other big stars. Initially set for a Summer 2023 release, it’s unclear if the premiere will be pushed back as a result.

Wishes for A Speedy Recovery

For now the team is breathing a sigh of relief that Talpade’s condition appears manageable and not life threatening. His wife thanked fans and media for respecting their privacy as the actor recovers surrounded by loved ones in the hospital. The overwhelmingly positive reaction shows just how beloved Talpade remains after decades of entertaining Indian audiences with his trademark wit and charm. Everyone is wishing the national award winner a full and speedy comeback.
