Background

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by the dengue virus (DENV) and spread by Aedes mosquitoes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), dengue is a leading cause of hospitalisation and death in some Asian and Latin American countries.

Symptoms of dengue usually begin four to six days after infection and last for up to 10 days. These include sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting and skin rash.

There is no specific treatment for the disease, but with early detection and proper medical care, serious complications can be avoided. Supportive care with fluids, rest and medication for fever and pain is recommended.

Career

On the work front, Pednekar was recently seen in the thriller film ‘The Ladykiller’ alongside Arjun Kapoor. Helmed by Ajay Bahl, the film released in theatres on November 11.

The actress made her Bollywood debut with the 2015 movie ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and is known for films like ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Bala’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ and ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’.
