Pathaan Movie Review: SRK’s High Voltage Film is an Average spy Thriller Loaded with Huge Action and Less Emotions

Pathaan is an ambitious project of Shah Rukh Khan; he returns to the big screen in a full-fledged role following four years break; however, SKR’S high voltage drama is an average spy thriller, which is loaded with huge action and very less emotions that doesn’t live up to the expectations. SRK’s presence saves average writing and mediocre VFX. Pathaan gives a feeling as if we’re watching Mission Impossible, plus the War, plus the Tiger series, and a few MCU movies. Let’s read out the full movie review:

Storyline

Pathaan, a former RAW officer, is deployed by a secret government bureau led by Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana to detain a bandit agent Jim (John Abraham), who now works for Pakistan’s ISI. Pathaan meets Rubina (Deepika Padukone), a stunning ISI officer, along the way. She is teamed up with Jim but appears to be on her own mission.

Script Analysis

The writing, which lacks freshness, plays the patriotic card. A few dialogues are quite funny or sound highly dramatic, but the overall writing isn’t captivating. Pathaan is packed with action, but don’t question the logic behind those sequences because there isn’t any. The action is fantastic, but some of the VFX felt underwhelming. Overall, the script seems to be half-backed and over-stretched.

Star Performance Analysis

Shah Rukh attempts to amuse with his signature repartee and limitless effort. He seems to be doing more for the script than the script does for him. John Abraham acts more as a model than an antagonist, selling his terrorist theories such as product offerings for sale. Deepika appears to be seducing an officer rather than an ISI representative. She is at her seductive best in a Moscow nightclub while attempting to obtain the fingerprints of an uncle-like agent and protagonist. Ashutosh Rana isn’t given much credit; he’s basic at its finest. Salman Khan’s surprise appearance is as formulaic as it could be. Dimple Kapadia is trapped in weak writing and doesn’t get enough space to outperform the task.

Pathaan Movie Review: Direction and Music Analysis

Siddharth has always been the audience’s director, and he also does fine work here. He has shown improvement since War; however, there are some downs, and they are significant enough to overshadow the ups. It becomes a little too unrealistic at times. If we will talk about the score that isn’t quite in sync with scenarios, Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar’s album manages to captivate audiences.

Last Words

Pathaan is a full commercial film but doesn’t expect any logic behind it. And lastly, if you didn’t enjoy the film War, Pathaan probably won’t impress you either.
