On the auspicious occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, celebrated actor and director Riteish Deshmukh unveiled his ambitious project, “Raja Shivaji.” The bilingual film, to be made in Marathi and Hindi, will showcase the life and times of the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the revered 17th-century warrior king who established the Maratha Empire.

Deshmukh, who garnered immense praise for his directorial debut with the blockbuster “Ved,” expressed his deep-rooted aspiration to bring Shivaji Maharaj’s inspiring journey to the silver screen. He said, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a historical figure; he is an eternal flame of inspiration, a saga of valor, and a beacon of hope that has illuminated hearts for centuries.”

The ambitious project is a collaboration between Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios and Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh’s Mumbai Film Company. Genelia Deshmukh, the producer, shared her excitement, stating, “We embark on a noble quest, not merely to produce a film but to enrich the tapestry of our culture and history.”

The film boasts a stellar production team, including National Award-winning cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who makes his debut in Marathi cinema, and the acclaimed music duo Ajay-Atul, known for their work on blockbusters like “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.”
