Rohit Shetty Spills Exciting Details About ‘Golmaal 5’ And ‘Singham Again’

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has delivered back-to-back hits in his illustrious career. He is known for his comedy ‘Golmaal’ franchise as well as his action-packed cop universe films like ‘Singham’ and ‘Simmba’. In a recent interview, Shetty opened up about his plans for the next installments in both these popular franchises – ‘Golmaal 5’ and ‘Singham Again’.

Plans For ‘Golmaal 5’

The ‘Golmaal’ franchise starring Ajay Devgn has been entertaining audiences since 2006. The last installment ‘Golmaal Again’ released in 2017. When asked about plans for the fifth part, Shetty confirmed “Golmaal 5 will happen for sure.”

Considering the phenomenal response the franchise has received so far, the director feels he needs to fast-track the next part. *”Looking at the response, I will have to make it a little soon. I think you will get Golmaal 5 in the next 2 years,”* he stated.

Shetty emphasized that the scale and canvas of ‘Golmaal 5′ will be bigger than the previous films. He explained that given how audiences’ tastes have evolved, the next ‘Golmaal’ has to be more grandiose in terms of the genre.

“By big, I don’t mean action. I can’t add action in ‘Golmaal’, but I can amp up the scale in the genre,” he clarified. The director wants to make the fifth installment bigger and better for the loyal ‘Golmaal’ fans.

Details About ‘Singham Again’

While fans await ‘Golmaal 5’, Rohit Shetty is currently filming ‘Singham Again’ which brings back Ajay Devgn as the dreaded cop Bajirao Singham.

“Singham Again is 10 times bigger than the first ‘Singham’,” Shetty revealed. He mentioned that the scale and action will be notch higher compared to the 2011 cop drama.

Shetty added that his recently released web series ‘Indian Police Force’ is also as big as his last theatrical cop film ‘Sooryavanshi’. The filmmaker is known for upping the action and production values with each subsequent movie in his cop universe.

Possibility Of A Fresh Non-Franchise Film

Apart from his popular franchises, Shetty also expressed a desire to direct a non-franchise film on the scale of ‘Chennai Express’ if he finds a suitable script. The 2013 Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer remains one of the biggest solo hits in the director’s filmography.

Shetty’s Cop Universe

Shetty has crafted an entire cop universe comprising of the ‘Singham’, ‘Simmba’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’ films. The cameos of the three characters in each other’s films have created a cinematic super cop universe that fans love.

Akshay Kumar will be reprising his ‘Sooryavanshi’ role in ‘Singham Again’. Ranveer Singh is also coming back as ‘Simmba’ while Ajay Devgn headlines the film as Singham. Actresses Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif will be seen as female leads.

Shetty is also bringing on board Tiger Shroff in a key role as a new cop in his universe. The filmmaker is pulling out all stops to make ‘Singham Again’ the most ambitious chapter in his cops trilogy. Slated for an Independence Day 2024 release, the action extravaganza promises to provide a thrilling cinematic experience.
