Sachin Tendulkar Unveils Legendary Cricketer Muralitharan’s Biopic ‘800’
The official trailer of legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic ‘800’ was unveiled in Mumbai on Tuesday. The trailer launch event saw two cricket legends, Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya, unveil the trailer to support their former competitor on the pitch.
Biopic Focuses on Muralitharan’s Unknown Story
The biopic focuses on the relatively unknown story of Muralitharan’s early struggles as an ethnic Tamil in Sri Lanka. The trailer depicts events from the 1970s when Tamils faced persecution in the country. It shows a young Muralitharan kneeling before armed personnel as a voiceover introduces him as a migrant laborer’s son who found it difficult to gain citizenship.
Despite the challenges, Muralitharan proudly calls himself a “cricketer” in the trailer. This indicates that the film will chronicle his journey to becoming one of cricket’s greatest spin bowlers despite formidable odds.
