Sandeep Reddy Vanga Explains Why Parineeti Chopra Exited ‘Animal’

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently opened up about his decision to replace Parineeti Chopra with Rashmika Mandanna in his latest film ‘Animal’. Chopra was originally signed for the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s on-screen wife Geetanjali, but things did not work out as planned.

The Director’s Explanation

In an interview, Vanga took responsibility for the switch and apologized to Chopra. He shared that though he had signed the actress 1.5 years ago, he later felt she was not suited for the part.

“I didn’t see Geetanjali in her. Some characters don’t seem to fit certain people,” he explained. The director added that he does not believe in auditions and goes purely by instinct when casting for his films.

Vanga also revealed his long-standing wish to work with Chopra, whom he had earlier considered for Kabir Singh as well. “I always wanted to cast her but it didn’t work out at that time,” he shared. However, he maintained that nothing is more important than the final film.

The Actress’ Reaction

According to Vanga, Chopra was understandably upset about being replaced. However, he stated that she comprehended his reasons for taking the call.

“She felt bad but understood why I was saying that,” the filmmaker remarked. He apologized to her again and asked for forgiveness.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga reiterated his admiration for Chopra’s acting chops and his hope to collaborate with her in the future.

For now, Rashmika Mandanna has garnered praise for her portrayal of Geetanjali in Animal. Meanwhile, Vanga’s violence-laced crime drama has minted over ₹500 crores at the Indian box office. The filmmaker also recently confirmed a sequel titled Animal Park, in which Ranbir Kapoor may have a double role.
