Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai Review: Manoj Bajpayee Shoulders the Interesting Courtroom Drama

The film explores the disputed matter of rape, loosely inspired by the case of self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu, which shocked the whole nation around a decade ago. Talking about the performances, Manoj Bajpayee excels in his part; Bajpayee shoulders the interesting courtroom drama effortlessly. On the other hand, Apoorv Karki, who makes his directorial debut from Vinod Bhanushali Studio Limited’s Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, does an excellent job. Interestingly, the film offers satire while also posing ethical dilemmas. The movie is currently streaming on Zee5. Read out the detailed review:

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai Review

The court drama is a biopic of a humble counsel from Rajasthan, Advocate PC Solanki, who impressively secured justice for the minor girl in the infamous self-proclaimed godman’s sexual abuse trial under the laws of the POCSO Act. As the title implies, the film is centered on a single character who is not the victim but the savior. The film treats the narrative carefully, just Advocate Solanki’s name being unaltered while other characters get screen names. Let’s dive into the details:

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai Star cast and Performances

Manoj Bajpayee is exceptional, as usual. Manoj deserves a huge round of applause for his incredible performance. In the meantime, Adrija is raw but stunning. Jai Hind Kumar and Durga Sharma delivered outstanding performances. Balaji Lakshminarasimhan, Vivek Tandon, Abhijeet Lahiri, and Vipin Sharma portrayed the courtroom drama wonderfully. Surya Mohan Kulshrestha, a seasoned actor, gets only a few lines, but his facial expressions and presence are great.

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’s Selling Point

Deepak Kingrani, the scriptwriter, has done an outstanding job creating memorable dialogue. He’s mastered the conversation in a courtroom play. Apoorv Singh Karki, the director, did his study well and added no fabricated drama to make it filmy. The cinematography by Arjun Kukreti is also noteworthy. Manoj Bajpayee once again delivered an excellent performance, even adapting a flawless Rajasthani accent.

In contrast, Music is appropriate and does the job. The camerawork follows the expected course and makes the film interesting. It is substantial to watch this film and be aware that anyone can change society significantly; it is just a matter of will.

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’s Weak Point

The victim’s emotions are where the film slips, as we don’t see much of Nu (Adrija), which is quite weird as the story is about her sexual abuse. She should have had more screen time, and the filmmakers should have highlighted her hardships.

The background score by Sangeet-Siddharth Roy boosts the courtroom stress, yet it often becomes restrictive and takes the focus off the dialogue.
