Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 Moves to March 5, 2027: Cast, Director and Why the Original Still Matters

Fans of one of Hindi cinema’s best-loved middle-class comedies will have to wait a little longer. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the sequel to the 2006 cult classic, has a new release date of March 5, 2027. It was originally scheduled for August 28, 2026, the Raksha Bandhan weekend, and the makers announced the change on October 14 with a fresh poster and the line “Deal pakki!”

What’s Changed

The makers have not said why the film moved. What they’ve confirmed is the new date and a poster that shows the Khosla family getting ready to “take possession of cinemas.” The sequel arrives more than two decades after the original, and it’s now set to open in the first week of March, well away from the busy festival slots that crowd the autumn calendar.

Who’s in It

The sequel brings back much of the original ensemble. Anupam Kher returns as Kamal Kishore Khosla, and Boman Irani is back as the property dealer Kishan Khurana. Ranvir Shorey, Kiran Juneja, Parvin Dabas and Tara Sharma also return from the first film. Outlook reports that the new poster adds Ravi Kishan and Divya Khosla Kumar to the cast.

Who’s Behind It

One notable change: the sequel is directed by Prashant Bhagia, while the original was directed by Dibakar Banerjee in his debut. Raaj Hiremath and Savita Raj Hiremath, who produced the first film under Tandav Films, are producers again, now alongside Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series. The writing credits include Rajesh Chawla, Shreya Srivastava and Vaibhav Suman, and the music is by Tanishk Bagchi and Dhruv Dhalla.

Why the Original Became a Classic

Khosla Ka Ghosla told a story that felt close to home for many viewers. A retired Delhi man, Khosla, invests his life savings in a plot of land to build his dream house, only for a builder to seize it. His son Cherry, who wants to move to America, sets aside his own plans and helps his father fight back, joined by his girlfriend Meghna and her theatre group.

It had no big stars, but it earned strong reviews for its realistic portrait of Delhi middle-class life and its satirical humour, and it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. According to estimates, it was made on a budget of about ₹3.75 crore and earned around ₹6.67 crore net in India, a modest figure that understates how widely it’s loved today.

What to Expect From the Sequel

The plot is under wraps. Reports say the film is expected to revisit the themes that defined the original: middle-class aspirations, property disputes and the schemes that arise when the Khoslas face another challenge. A sequel to a film this beloved has a high bar to clear, and the return of the original cast is clearly meant to reassure fans.

The Takeaway

Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 will now reach cinemas on March 5, 2027, with Anupam Kher, Boman Irani and much of the original cast back in their roles. Until then, the best preparation is a rewatch of the 2006 original, which is a gentle, funny reminder of why people wanted to see the Khoslas again.
