Adipurush Movie Review: Om Raut’s Modern Ramayana is a Huge Letdown in Terms of Dialogues and VFX

Adipurush, Om Raut’s magnum opus modern version of the Hindu epic Ramayana, hits theaters today. Adipurush is being promoted as one of the most extravagant films produced in India. However, Om Raut’s modern Ramayana is a huge letdown in terms of dialogues and VFX; Prabhas is the only one who gets some great lines. Except for Lord Hanuman, the other Vanaras resemble extras from The Planet Of The Apes. There are numerous other issues that the director has chosen to disregard. Let’s take a closer peek at Detailed Review:

Storyline

The story of Adipurush has been turned into a movie inspired by Rishi Valmiki’s epic, Ramayan. Almost every Indian has grown up hearing or seeing this narrative. The star-studded ensemble, which included Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Sunny Singh as Shesh (one of Lord Ram, Sita, and Laxman’s numerous titles, respectively), was one of the film’s significant features.

Adipurush Movie Review: Prabhas has unrivaled charisma and royalty and is the perfect match for the Lord Rama character. Nachiket Barve’s outfits add a modern touch to the film. The set design by Priya Suhass and Nishanth Jogdand may elicit conflicting views because the Lanka world has been shown unconventionally. The 3D effects are not required in the film. Despite the typical story, Om Raut manages to insert some enjoyable moments. The film needs extensive editing, particularly in the second half.

How well family audiences receive this modern Ramayana will determine the film’s box office chances.

Adipurush Star cast and Performances

Prabhas excels in his portrayal of Raghava, also regarded as Lord Ram. His imposing stature, and strong presence are ideal for the character. Kriti Sanon is stunning as Janki, but she doesn’t have much to contribute here besides playing a damsel in distress. Sunny Singh needs to improve his dialogue delivery. He sounds like a Delhi lad transported back in time. Devdatta Nage, as Lord Hanuman, almost makes a jest of the character and falls short of capturing the tenacity, fortitude, and even humor that Bajrang Bali possessed in the literature. Saif Ali Khan tries hard to be the finest Ravana he can be, but a lack of a solid character sketch and below-average dialogue has left him falling, and the beard was utterly fake.

Adipurush’s Selling Point

The music and background soundtrack by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara and Ajay-Atul’s songs add an excellent lift to Saif’s gigantic depiction of Ravan. And, Prabhas’s strong presence is considered the film’s saving grace.

Adipurush’s Weak Point

Considering the dramatic buildup, the climax does not leave you with a winning emotion, encouragement, or triumph. The filmmakers spent a lot of money on the film, yet Om Raut’s modern Ramayana is a huge letdown in terms of dialogues, and VFX let them down; even action sequences are uninteresting.
