Concern Over Fake Instagram Account of Mahesh Babu’s Daughter Sitara
The entertainment world was jolted this week by reports of a fake Instagram account set up in the name of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s 10-year-old daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni. The impersonation led to swift action by Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata Shirodkar to warn fans about the account and initiate an investigation.
The Incident
Earlier this week, an unknown individual created a fake Instagram account posing as Sitara, which came to the notice of the family. The impersonator was sending suspicious trading and investment links to unsuspecting followers on the account.
Once aware of the cybercrime, Mahesh Babu’s production house GMB Entertainment issued an official statement on Instagram cautioning people about the fake account. The post said the local Madhapur police were looking into the matter along with their team to trace the culprit behind the account.

Namrata Shirodkar also shared the statement on her Instagram page, clearly stating that Sitara only has one verified account and others in her name should not be trusted.
The Need for Diligence
The incident has highlighted the pressing need for vigilance against identity theft of celebrity kids on social media. Sitara Ghattamaneni, though only 10 years old, already has amassed over 1.8 million followers on her verified Instagram through occasional posts and appearances on her parents’ accounts.
Her popularity and her father’s stardom make her vulnerable to such impersonation aimed at exploiting the trust of fans. The creation of fake social media accounts for nefarious purposes is a growing cyber threat today.
Hence, Mahesh Babu’s swift response and warning is much needed to protect his young daughter’s privacy at a time when she is too young to fully understand social media.

Investigation Underway
As mentioned in the official statement, the local police have already initiated investigation into the fake Instagram account. Tracing the IP address and digital footprints of the account creator through legal procedures can help identify the impersonator.
Stringent legal action against such brazen misuse of a child’s identity should act as an effective deterrent in future. Online child safety has to be upheld as a priority.

A Proactive Approach Needed
This incident shows celebrities need to be more proactive to counter such identity theft of their kids at the earliest. Educating children about potential risks is also important once they start accessing social media independently as teens.
Fans and the public also need to exercise caution about instantly believing celebrity accounts, and report fraudulent activity so collective action can curb this menace. With child safety at stake, vigilant reporting and speedy investigation are crucial.

The Way Forward
As Sitara grows up, the challenges of preserving her online privacy while living in the limelight will only increase for Mahesh Babu’s family. While her parents have taken the right step here, continued mindfulness about her social media footprint will be essential.
Hopefully, a clear outcome of the probe will set a strong precedent against criminal misuse of celebrity kids’ identities. With child safety as the priority, the way forward is constant caution, verification of accounts, legal deterrents and collective responsibility.
