In an interview last year, Kartik disclosed that he has to take permission from his mother before making any big purchase. He shared that he had wanted to buy a car for his birthday, but his mother denied permission saying there wasn’t enough money.

The actor confessed he has no idea about his finances – how much is in his bank accounts or which accounts he even has. He simply believes whatever his mother tells him about his finances.

His mother believes giving him a fixed monthly allowance will ensure he stays disciplined and doesn’t go astray. Though Kartik is now one of the top stars in Bollywood, she still sees him as her little boy who needs monitoring.

Kartik’s revelation about his mom managing his money took the internet by storm. Reactions were polarized – some found it endearing that he is so respectful of his mother’s advice even at the peak of his career. Others, however, felt it indicated immaturity and inability to take charge of his finances.
