Brief About MasterChef Judge Garima Arora
Garima Arora was born into a Punjabi household on Nov 9, 1986, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Growing up in a traditional Punjabi food-loving family, her passion for food developed at an early age. Garima Arora is a renowned Indian chef in the cookery world. She has achieved great heights in her short career, including getting a Michelin Star at the age of 30 and becoming the first Indian female to achieve this fantastic milestone. Arora made history by becoming the first Indian woman chef to take home the award.
Garima is a Michelin Star Chef and Founder of the ‘Gaa’
A Michelin star, which is given to eateries that consistently provide food that surpassed expectations, was handed to Garima and her restaurant Gaa in 2018. She owns the Gaa restaurant. It is sited in Bangkok, Thailand. Gaa specializes in Indo-Thai cuisine. The “World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” a ranking compiled by UK media corporation William Reed, titled “ Garima as the best female chef of the year in February 2019.
Garima’s restaurant ‘Gaa’ entered the Top 50 Restaurants in Asia list at No. 16 in March 2019 and won the highest new entrant award. Gaa debuted on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking at position 95 in June of the same year. She introduced the “Food Forward India” campaign in August 2019 with the intention of highlighting the future of Indian cuisine.

- Garima Arora worked for a newspaper as her first job after studying mass communication in Mumbai.
- She traveled to France to apply to an esteemed cooking institute in Paris. Prior to launching her own restaurant, she collaborated with chefs Gaggan Anand, Gordon Ramsay, and René Redzepi of Noma in Copenhagen.
- Garima Arora shifted to Bangkok in 2015 to work as the sous chef for Gaggan Anand at the Michelin-starred Gaggan restaurant.
- Garima introduced Gaa in April 2017, a three-story restaurant that features a contemporary tasting menu prepared using traditional Indian methods. Then, in 2018, Arora, then 32, became the first-ever Indian female chef to be conferred a Michelin star.
