Shocking Demise: Noor Malabika Das, Kajol’s Co-Star in ‘The Trial,’ Dies by Alleged Suicide

The entertainment industry has lost another rising talent, Noor Malabika Das, an actor who made her mark in several web series and films, including the recent legal drama “The Trial,” where she shared the screen with Bollywood superstar Kajol. The 37-year-old’s demise has left a void in the hearts of her friends, family, and fans.

The Devastating Discovery

On June 6, 2023, a somber atmosphere engulfed Noor’s neighborhood in Mumbai’s Lokhandwala area when her neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from her rented apartment. The police swiftly responded, and upon breaking into the residence, they made the heartbreaking discovery – Noor’s body in a decomposed state.

Suspicions of Suicide

While the investigation is ongoing, the police suspect that Noor died by suicide, although no suicide note has been found. Samples, including medicines and mobile phones, have been collected from her home to aid the probe. An accidental death report (ADR) has been filed, and an autopsy has been conducted.

A Life Cut Short

Hailing from Assam, Noor Malabika Das had previously worked as an air hostess with Qatar Airways before pursuing her passion for acting. She had appeared in several Hindi films and web series, such as “Siskiyaan,” “Walkaman,” “Teekhi Chatni,” “Jaghanya Upaya,” “Charamsukh,” and the legal drama “The Trial,” where she co-starred with Kajol and Jisshu Sengupta.

A Heartfelt Farewell

Tragically, Noor’s elderly parents had recently visited her in Mumbai but had returned to their home in Assam. Unable to travel again, her friend and fellow actor Aloknath Pathak stepped in to perform her last rites with the assistance of an NGO, Mamdani Health and Education Trust.

A Call for Action

The All Indian Cine Workers Association has urged Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged suicide. The association emphasizes the need to understand the underlying causes behind such recurring tragedies in the Indian film industry and take appropriate measures to prevent future incidents.

As the entertainment community mourns the loss of a talented artist, Noor Malabika Das’s untimely demise serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support systems within the industry. Her memory will live on through her remarkable performances and the impact she had on those who knew her.
