Sunny Deol Opens Up About Shelved Border 2 and Special Deleted Scene From the Iconic War Film
In a recent interview, veteran Bollywood actor Sunny Deol got candid about his iconic 1997 war drama Border, including revealing details about a shelved sequel and an emotional deleted scene.
Border 2 Was Meant to Happen in 2015 But Got Shelved
Addressing rumors about Border 2, Deol confirmed that a sequel was planned back in 2015 but did not materialize after the failure of his romantic comedy I Love New Year. “We were meant to start it a lot earlier, in 2015. But then my film flopped, so people were scared to make it then. Now, everyone wants to make it,” he stated.
Deol Expressed his Wish to Work on Border 2
The actor conveyed his attachment to his character from Border and his wish to portray an extension of that role. However, he emphasized that the story would need to justify revisiting the character. “I feel like doing it, but the story should lend a justification to that character,” he remarked.

Reveals a Special Deleted Scene
When asked about his favorite scene from Border, Deol recalled an emotional deleted scene that did not make the final cut due to time constraints. He vividly described the scene where his character consoles fallen soldiers around a fire and promises to support their families. Deol got visibly choked up while reminiscing about the moving scene penned by JP Dutta’s father.

Success of Gadar 2 Sparks Interest in Border 2
With his recent period drama Gadar 2 crossing the ₹450 crore mark at the domestic box office, Deol expressed that the film’s success has renewed interest in revisiting classic films like Border. He shared his pride in the soldiers embracing him as one of their own due to his Border role.
