Tarla Movie Review: Huma Qureshi’s Spice-Topped Average Recipe
Zee5 is currently streaming ‘Tarla,’ a film helmed by Piyush Gupta and featuring Huma Qureshi and Sharib Hashmi. The movie provides an intriguing portrayal of Tarla’s journey and how she achieved fame as a renowned culinary expert through her cookbook; however, the film is not so spicy, but we can say it is a Huma Qureshi’s spice-topped average recipe. One could describe the movie as having sweet and sour elements in culinary terms. Scroll out to know how flavorful film it is:
Storyline
The film beautifully portrays the inspiring journey of Tarla, portrayed by the versatile Huma Qureshi, as she navigates her path to fame. However, it emphasizes that success is never an individual’s accomplishment alone. In this captivating story, Tarla’s husband, Nallu, played by the skillful Sharib Hashmi, plays a pivotal role in propelling her toward success.

Tarla Movie Review
The film showcases a deep bond of friendship and love between Tarla and her husband, which becomes a significant highlight, ultimately contributing to Tarla’s personal growth and success. A notable flaw is the lack of connection between the scenes in which Tarla fails and becomes emotional. Furthermore, the inclusion of Tarla getting her own show, along with numerous other events occurring in her life, resembles the film “Tumhari Sulu,” starring Vidya Balan. While Tarla may not match the delectable flavors of Tarla Dalal’s cuisine, it could still be a worthwhile choice for a single viewing on an OTT platform.
Tarla Star Cast and Performances
Despite a significant difference in appearance and height, Huma effortlessly steps into Tarla Dalal’s shoes and delivers a controlled and captivating performance. Sharib, in his portrayal of Nalin, effortlessly captures the essence of the character, particularly in emotionally charged scenes between Tarla(Huma) and Nallu(Sharib). Sharib skillfully conveys the complex emotions of a successful wife’s husband. Bharati Achrekar, as Tarla’s neighborhood aunty, provides strong support to the story and is a constant source of motivation.
Tarla’s Selling Point
The standout feature of the film is the exceptional performance of the leads. Huma’s on-screen chemistry with Sharib Hashmi breathes life into numerous scenes that would otherwise lack impact. The writer and first-time director skillfully establish an uplifting atmosphere from the outset, navigating the story smoothly and predictably.
Tarla’s Weak Point
With a runtime of nearly two hours, Tarla manages to maintain a good pace overall and avoids being dull. However, there are certain parts where it struggles to engage the audience effectively. Particularly, the middle section of the film feels slow and uninteresting. Some of the conflicts in the movie are needlessly prolonged, which hampers the overall experience.
