The poster image depicted a woman in a bold Indian dress striking a seductive stance with a lotus near her waist and two peacocks on either side. Shortly after this poster went viral, Ekta Kapoor’s Gandii Baat was criticized for allegedly demeaning goddess Laxmi; netizens expressed outrage and demanded a complete ban on the controversial show.

People assume it symbolizes Goddess Lakshmi, who also sits on a lotus, and have criticized Ekta Kapoor and Alt Balaji for it. Sharing the show’s posters, a user tweeted, “ALT Balaji belongs to Ektaa Kapoor, Balaji is included in the title itself, but the work is opposite, soft porn is offered in it, if you are not thrilled with that, then developed an identical thumbnail such as Goddess Lakshmi, but a dirty woman is placed on the lotus.” Is it only me who finds it objectionable, or do all of you?”
