Poonam Dhillon Hospitalised With Dengue Amid Ongoing CINTAA Row

Veteran actress Poonam Dhillon has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after being diagnosed with dengue, with the news arriving in the middle of an unrelated but ongoing dispute within the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), where Dhillon serves as president.

Her health update

Journalist Vickey Lalwani shared the update on Instagram, writing that Dhillon had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital and diagnosed with dengue, adding that she had been in the hospital for several days. According to Lalwani, he checked in with the 64-year-old actress on the morning of August 22, and she responded that she was recovering. Multiple entertainment outlets have since confirmed she is in stable condition and on the mend.

The CINTAA dispute, explained

Dhillon’s hospitalisation comes at a tense moment for CINTAA. Earlier this month, eight members of the association’s executive committee resigned from their posts and called for fresh elections, citing a loss of confidence in how the organization was being run.

In their resignation, the departing members alleged that Dhillon, senior vice president Padmini Kolhapure, and some other executive committee members had increasingly centralized control over key decisions within the association.

Dhillon’s response to the allegations

Dhillon addressed the controversy directly in comments to ANI, rejecting the allegations and calling them “offensive” and “very inappropriate and hurtful.” She said the dispute began after certain members were unable to get the outcome they wanted through legal channels, and that attempts were then made to exert control over CINTAA members through the Cine Artistes’ Welfare Trust (CAWT).

She also addressed claims that she and Kolhapure had sought excessive visibility within the organization, saying the two had instead been using their personal industry contacts and relationships to bring positive change to CINTAA, and expressing disappointment that their efforts had been framed as self-promotion.

Dhillon said that despite the intensity of the allegations, she and Kolhapure chose not to escalate the matter further, noting that their self-respect and integrity mattered more to them than winning the dispute publicly.

Where things stand

As of now, CINTAA’s internal leadership dispute remains unresolved, with the departing members pushing for fresh elections and Dhillon maintaining that she and Kolhapure have acted in the organization’s best interest. Meanwhile, fans and colleagues have been sending well-wishes for Dhillon’s recovery from dengue as she continues treatment.

We’ll update this piece as more details emerge on both her health and the ongoing CINTAA situation.
